We are continuously improving our websites, and since they share a technical platform, new features become available to all seven museums simultaneously. The latest enhancement allows embedding objects on a page with a simple click. All that’s needed is the object’s ID and the choice of image to display.
In cases where a descriptive text has already been produced, such as for an exhibition, it is also automatically embedded. However, the editor always has the option to modify or add to the text before publishing. This way, we reuse our resources and save time, while the system provides the flexibility needed for adaptation to different contexts and target groups.
An example is this emergency coin from 1717. The text was created for the exhibition MONEY! at the Economic Museum and is now available in three different places:
• On touch screens in the exhibition or on visitors’ mobile phones
• Via search the collections, under “Tillhörande texter” (Swedish only)
• On the webpage about emergency coins (Swedish only)
For our visitors, the result is that they receive more and better-tailored information about the objects. For us at National Historical Museums, it means increased efficiency and a reduced risk of errors, as the information is reused and centrally managed in a well-structured format.
