Sverigeshistoria.se is a digital teaching resource created by Swedish museums and cultural heritage institutions. It offers lesson plans, background material, and inspiration for history education, based on content from around forty museums, archives, and heritage organizations across Sweden.
Sverigeshistoria.se is run as a part of the state agency National Historical Museums in Sweden with a responsible for overall editorial issues, operation and development of the website as well as coordinating and supervising the participating museums in creating lessons. The museums contribute with their working time and knowledge and are responsible for the content of their lesson suggestions.
Designed for Classroom Use
Sverigeshistoria.se is primarily aimed at grades 4 – 12. All lessons have a clear starting point in the school’s curricula and there is a separate teacher’s guide for each lesson. The lessons contain, in addition to images and text, interactive maps and pictures, film, sound and 3D visualization. Before publication, each lesson is tested in a classroom in dialogue with teachers.
